"Early Exploration and Development"

Learning Experiences for 2-Year-Olds at Wessex Gardens

At Wessex Gardens Primary School, 2-year-olds are provided with a warm, inviting environment that encourages their natural curiosity and supports their early development. Through sensory play, young children may engage with materials like soft clay, water, or textured fabrics, helping them explore their senses and begin to develop fine motor skills as they manipulate objects.

Simple activities like stacking blocks or filling containers with rice help develop hand-eye coordination and early problem-solving abilities. As they play together, 2-year-olds also start to practice early communication skills, learning to express their needs, share, and begin to understand basic social interactions.

Outdoor learning is a key part of the 2-year-old experience at Wessex Gardens, providing ample opportunities for physical development and social play. In the playground, children enjoy activities such as climbing, riding tricycles, and running, helping to develop their gross motor skills and spatial awareness.

Simple outdoor exploration activities, like touching leaves or watching insects, help them begin to develop an understanding of the world around them. These activities promote teamwork as children learn to share space and interact with others, encouraging early social skills. Through these hands-on experiences, 2-year-olds at Wessex Gardens begin to build the foundation for future learning, creativity, and social development.
